VERMILLION TOWNSHIP — A 17-year-old girl died and three other people were seriously injured Saturday night in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 30 in Ashland County, authorities said.

Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Ashland Post were dispatched around 7:13 p.m. to the intersection of U.S. 30 and Ohio 511 in Vermillion Township.

According to investigators, the 17-year-old female was driving a 2010 Hyundai Elantra south on Ohio 511 when she failed to stop at a stop sign at U.S. 30.

The Hyundai entered the intersection directly into the path of a westbound 2013 Jeep Wrangler driven by Maximus Davis, 25, of Jeromesville, troopers said.

The impact sent both vehicles across the median into the eastbound lanes of U.S. 30, where they became disabled.
