MOUNT VERNON — The community is invited to attend the second annual recovery conference on Friday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Glenn A. Gallagher Center.

This year’s conference, supported by the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health and the United Way of Knox County, will focus on Women in Recovery, with a special emphasis on mothers in recovery.

The event will provide an opportunity for women, families, individuals in recovery, community members, and local service providers to celebrate recovery, build connections, and learn about resources available throughout the community.

The conference is free and open to the community. It features interactive wellness activities designed to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Lunch is provided at no cost.

The conference also offers CEUs for chemical dependency professionals.

The Freedom Center can offer assistance with the cost of child care and transportation if needed.

The strength and resilience of women in recovery

Local agencies and community organizations will provide information, resources, and opportunities for attendees to connect with services that can support individuals and families on their recovery journey. Resources will address a variety of needs, including recovery support, family services, mental health, wellness, housing, employment, and other community-based services.

“Recovery is not something people have to do alone,” Thomas Fuller, community support services supervisor for The Freedom Center.

“This conference is an opportunity to celebrate the strength and resilience of women in recovery while creating connections and making sure mothers and families know that support is available within their community.”

The conference is designed to be a welcoming and supportive environment for women at every stage of recovery. Whether someone is beginning their recovery journey, maintaining long-term recovery, supporting a loved one, or simply looking to learn more about recovery and available community resources, everyone is encouraged to attend.

Community members, families, professionals, and local organizations are encouraged to attend and help celebrate the many paths to recovery and the women who continue to make a difference in their families and communities.
