Thomas L. Gregory, age 84, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Danbury Assisted Living. He was born on October 10, 1941, in Tazewell, Virginia, the son of Raymond and Gladys (Neal) Gregory.

Tom worked in the maintenance departments at Chattanooga Glass in Mount Vernon and Nestlé in Sunbury before retiring from TRW in Mount Vernon.

Tom was affectionately nicknamed “McGyver” because of his incredible ingenuity and ability to create something out of nothing. He was a true tinkerer who loved working with his hands and could find a way to fix or make just about anything. Tom spent many days on the farm mowing and tending to the land, a place where he was happiest. He also enjoyed collecting tractors, with John Deere tractors being his favorite.

Above all else, Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family and loved nothing more than attending the many activities of his children and grandchildren. His presence, encouragement, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tom leaves behind a legacy of hard work, ingenuity, devotion to family, and countless memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

He is survived by his boys, Paul (Tonia) Gregory of Centerburg, Steve (Melissa) Gregory of Mount Vernon, Mark (Tammy) Gregory of Convoy, ten grandchildren, Madi Gregory, Gunnar (Baileigh) Gregory, Livi Gregory, Jack Gregory, Taylor (Michael) Pozderac, Tyler Gregory, Lexi (Griffin) Painter, Bailey Gregory, Cali Gregory, and Kaci Gregory, and a sister, Lily (Bob) Ferguson of Fredericktown.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette (Lowe) Gregory, a brother, Claude Gregory and a sister Freda Walker.

Friends may call on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 10 am to 11 am, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am with Pastor Troy McNichols officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
