MOUNT VERNON — If you are ready to take down your Christmas tree, you can recycle it this Saturday in Mount Vernon. The Heart of Ohio Trail, Inc., will once again accept used Christmas/holiday trees for recycling at Rumpke’s location, 301 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, on Saturday, January 4, 2014. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at Noon.
All decorations should be removed from the trees before dropping them off. The trees will be used for greenspace enrichment, such as creating underwater habitat for fish, stabilizing erosion-prone areas, or similar projects. Donations for this service are welcomed, but not required. The Heart of Ohio Trail, Inc., members are volunteers who help promote, organize, and maintain the Knox County section of the Ohio to Erie Trail, and collaborating with other organizations as applicable.
