MOUNT VERNON — Knox Community Hospital welcomes Emad Kowatli, M.D., as the Department of Specialty Care brings pulmonology back to the community.

Kowatli started his education at Wright State University, where he also did his residency in internal medicine. His three fellowships include critical care at the Chicago Medical School/Cook County Hospital in North Chicago, pulmonary and sleep at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and a research fellowship in the Department of Adult Cardiology at Cook County Hospital.

Kowatli brings 35 years of knowledge to the community. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the lungs and respiratory system.

This includes conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, lung nodules, sleep-related breathing disorders, and other complex pulmonary conditions.

He is also experienced in advanced diagnostic procedures, including bronchoscopy and pulmonary function testing.
