Marilyn Jo Beck, 87, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 22, 2026.

She was born in Howard, Ohio, to the late Karl E. Wheeler and Mary (Kent) Wheeler. A proud graduate of Howard High School, Marilyn was a cheerleader and remained connected with many of her classmates throughout their lives.

Marilyn met the love of her life, Robert E. Beck, at a square dance at Morgan Grange, and the two were later married in her parents’ home. Together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage until Bob’s passing in 2021.

A devoted homemaker, Marilyn was also a faithful member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was well known throughout Knox County for her crafting talents, often setting up at local shows where she sold her handmade items. Her creations included baby quilts, crocheted blankets, kitchen towels with handmade holders, and scrubbies, all made with love.

Marilyn found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved attending garage sales with her family and going on shopping trips with her sister and her cousin, Kay Sigman. She also had a fondness for sweets, loved penguins, feeding and watching squirrels and greatly enjoyed listening to Billy Crash.

She is survived by her son, Robert K. (Linda) Beck; her grandchildren, Rick Burno, Rachel (Steve) Arnett, and Jennifer (Levi) Shoman; and her three great-granddaughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Beck, and her sister, Carolyn Early.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in Marilyn’s memory to: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741

A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 10:30am in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Pastor Patrick Bailey will be officiating.
