CENTERBURG — Tom Stewart resigned his position as mayor of Centerburg effective Jan. 15.
Stewart said he resigned due to family issues.
In a statement, Stewart said, “Greg Myers, in his capacity as council president, assumed the duties of mayor today. Mayor Myers will be formally sworn in at the next regular meeting of village council on Feb. 2, 2026.”
Village Administrator Richard Dzik said that Stewart met with Myers Friday morning to ensure a smooth transition, and village business continues as normal.
Stewart was sworn in as mayor in September 2025, following the resignation of former mayor Greg Sands. Stewart ran unopposed in the November 2025 General Election for the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027.
