Patricia S. “Patsy” Brenneman, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Patsy was born on December 28, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Ray and Esther (Sowry) Toppin. She was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Ohio. Patsy worked for 14 years as a dental assistant for Dr. Wayne Mahar, DDS, where she was known for her kindness, warmth, and welcoming spirit.

She was a faithful member of Gay Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Glenwood Chapter #303, Bladensburg, Ohio. Patsy loved cooking and baking and truly enjoyed being a host to everyone she met. Her passion for hospitality led to the opening of The Gambier House in 1991, where she took great joy in welcoming and caring for others.

Patsy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, whose family meant everything to her. She also had a heart for service and volunteered faithfully with the Salvation Army, especially enjoying assisting during the Christmas season, a time that reflected her generous and giving spirit.

Patsy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her legacy of faith, hospitality, and service will be fondly remembered.

She is survived by her husband, Douglas O. Brenneman, whom she married on October 28, 1961, her children, Charles (Kelly) Brenneman of Mount Vernon, Jennifer (Dennis) Miller of Munroe Falls, Ohio, and Doug (Barb) Brenneman of Mount Vernon, eight grandchildren, Bethany Hunt, Dustin Miller, Andy Brenneman, Adam Brenneman, Greg Brenneman, Matt Breneman, John Brenneman, Joe Brenneman, seven great grandchildren, a brother, Chris Toppin of Fairlawn, Ohio and a sister, Jodi (Jeff) Lawless of Ravenna.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Toppin, and a sister, Sharon Toppin.

Friends may call on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm at the Snyder Funeral Home, Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service will be held on Saturday beginning at 10 am. Mr. Roger Marra will be officiating, and burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
