Clifford George Cook, age 79, of Howard, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Danbury Senior Living in Mount Vernon.
He was born on August 29, 1945, in Camden, New Jersey to the late George E. and Evelyn (McDonough) Cook.
Cliff was a lifelong learner and approached everything he did with incredible passion and incessant energy. Whether related to accounting and finance, bicycling, global trade, weight training, academia, coffee, kayaking, investments, the Spanish language, fishing, or triathlons – it made no difference to him.
He strived for expertise and excellence in everything he did. He instilled his passion for life in his family and friends and was always there for them when they needed him. He retired from Ohio Wesleyan University as a professor of accounting and finance where he touched countless lives.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce (Salisbury) Cook; a daughter, Wendy (Chris) Denman; son, Andy (Brandy) Cook; five grandchildren, Bryan (Kelly) Denman, Brandon (Lily) Denman, Sarah Denman, Michael Cook, Tyler Cook; a great-granddaughter, Cecilia Denman; and two sisters, Judy (John) Bishop and Phyllis (Rob) Martinelli.
Besides his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Salisbury.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 15370 Meredith State Road, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
