MOUNT VERNON — More than 200 job seekers braved the rain to attend the 2025 Career and Apprenticeship Fair on May 6, hosted by OhioMeansJobs Knox County at the Opportunity Knox Employment Center campus.
The event was during Ohio’s In-Demand Jobs Week, celebrating high-demand careers.
Despite the downpour, the outdoor event drew over 40 participating employers, apprenticeship programs, education and training providers, and military recruiters.
Job seekers of all ages, including graduating students from the Knox County Career Center and Mount Vernon High School, took full advantage of the opportunity to connect directly with local employers and explore immediate job openings, short-term training options, continuing education, and enlistment paths.
“We were very pleased to see such a strong turnout and level of community support, especially given the weather,” said Brandy Booth, administrator at OhioMeansJobs Knox County. “A great deal of planning and coordination goes into hosting an event of this size, and it’s rewarding to see it make a meaningful impact.”
Employers shared positive feedback, noting the quality of interactions and the number of engaged participants. The fair supported active job seekers and helped bridge the gap for young adults exploring their post-graduation pathways.
Based on the success of this year’s event, OhioMeansJobs Knox County hopes to make the Career and Apprenticeship Fair an annual spring event.
