MOUNT VERNON — Michael Greywolf, 69, will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.
Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard Wetzel on Thursday sentenced Greywolf to a total of 45 years to life in prison Thursday on two counts of first-degree felony rape.
Greywolf was found guilty by a Knox County jury on April 10 for forcible rape and rape of a child less than 13 years old. The jury deliberated for about four hours after hearing evidence, including testimony from the defendant.
The jury heard from investigators, forensic examiners, and family members during the trial. It also heard from an expert witness, who explained some of the victim’s behavior based on autism.
According to the indictment, the crimes occurred between March and April 2023 and April 2020 and March 2021.
Greywold was sentenced to 20 years to life on the one conviction and 25 years to life on the second. Wetzel ordered Greywolf to serve his prison sentences consecutively.
The court classified Greywolf as a sexually violent predator, which brings a harsher sentence.
Greywolf has prior rape convictions from Tennessee in 1988 and Knox County in 2001.
“It enhances the sentence that’s possible,” Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville said. “Without (it), the first count would carry three to 11 years, the second count would have a sentence of 10 to life. Instead, it got enhanced to 20 to life (and) 25 to life.”
