GAMBIER – Pelotonia organizers are looking for more volunteers at Kenyon College for the event Saturday, Aug. 9. The College is the halfway point of the 150- and 180-mile routes and also the end point for the 75-mile and 100-mile routes of the bike ride that raises money for cancer research.

“We could really use some more help at Kenyon on Saturday, especially in the afternoon and evening,” said volunteer coordinator Morgan Dominique. “If we had another 50 or 60 people we would really be over the moon.”

Volunteers are needed to help with setting up and taking down tables and chairs, serving food and beverages, managing the storage of bicycles for riders who will be staying on campus overnight and helping with loading bikes onto trucks.

Pelotonia donates 100 percent of the money its riders raise to cancer research at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center- James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James), making volunteers an integral part of the operation. “They have a very unique experience volunteering for the event,” Dominique said. “It’s a really good part of their lives.”

Volunteers can register at https://www.mypelotonia.org/volunteer.jsp and are encouraged to sign up for multiple shifts. Call 614-221-6100 for more information.
