CENTERBURG — The Centerburg girls basketball team is headed to the Division VI district championship game.
Senior Kayla Larimore poured in 22 points and junior Kenlee Fairall added 20 more as the second-seeded Trojans cruised to a 63-41 victory at home. Evie Stowe chipped in 12 points and junior Tierra Sheppard added eight.
Centerburg eased in front 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but took control with an 18-8 burst in the second period for a 31-20 halftime lead.
The bulge grew to 50-28 heading to the fourth quarter. The two teams each scored 12 points in the final stanza.
Sydney Opfer’s 11 points topped the eighth-seeded Bulldogs. Malena Streby added eight points.
Centerburg has won five straight games is now 21-3. The Trojans will play No. 1-seed Newark Catholic (16-7) in Saturday’s 8 p.m. district championship game at Ohio Dominican’s Alumni Hall in Columbus.
The Green Wave rolled past fifth-seeded West Jefferson 55-46 in Tuesday’s other district semifinal.
East Knox finished the season with an 11-12 record.
