CENTERBURG — Eight Centerburg seniors, their families and friends gathered at the high school for an event that had all the characteristics of any other family celebration, National Signing Day.

National Signing Day has  traditionally been the first day a high school senior can sign a National Letter of Intent for a collegiate sport. Eight Centerburg High School seniors and their families celebrated that day on Wednesday afternoon.

Centerburg Athletic Director Rich Porter explained the reason for highlighting this milestone in the lives of the young people.

“Just to be able to celebrate them, its all about them and to celebrate their outstanding high school careers,” Porter said.

“We feel like we’ve had a group here that have had some very successful high school careers at their respective sports and we want to celebrate them.”
