Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist statement on the Ohio legislature’s “deal” to hike the gas tax on Ohio citizens:

Increasing the Ohio gasoline tax is a big mistake. It will raise the cost of living for all Ohioans when they travel to work or pick up the kids from school. The gas tax increases the price of everything we buy every day. As usual, the low-income residents of Ohio will be hardest hit day after day.

The governor was left a surplus. There was and is plenty of fat in the Ohio budget. But Governor DeWine and sadly the legislature have decided not to use the budget surplus to repair roads and bridges, nor to reduce spending elsewhere to free up resource for roads, but to again raise taxes.

Again, tax increases are what politicians do when they lack the capability to govern.
