Edith was born in Grundy, Virginia in 1925 and moved her family to Knox County Ohio in 1953. She worked at both local hospitals in the Mount Vernon area and several of the local nursing facilities. She was a self-taught quilter and made many quilts sharing them with her family and friends. She made sure no one left her kitchen table hungry. Her homemade breakfast included biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes and her apple butter. She always had the time to share a cup of coffee in her kitchen and listened to what was going on in your life. She kept her Kodak camera close by to capture photos that she placed in albums. We complained about that bright flash from those big flashbulbs. Half runner green beans were a must in her garden, and she shared stories while she snapped and strung her beans. She passed on the love of growing vegetables and flowers to her children and grandchildren. Most of all, Mom loved to attend church and worship God.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to everyone at the Laurels of Mount Vernon, and to everyone at the Ohio Eastern Star Home and Health Care Center of Mount Vernon that provided her care during these past four years, and to everyone at Gentiva Hospice of Mount Vernon for providing care to Mom and for providing support and guidance to family members during this journey.
