James “Jim” A. Sewall, 78, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024. Born on May 2, 1946, James led a full and meaningful life, devoted to his family, his country, and his community.

A proud Navy veteran, James served honorably during the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Ranger. After his service, he remained active in his community by working as a pollster for the local Board of Elections, where he was committed to civic duty and ensuring the democratic process for his fellow citizens.

For 43 beautiful years, he was the loving husband of Teresa Sewall (Pribonic), with whom he shared a life filled with love and purpose. Together, James and Teresa ran the local vacuum shop, building connections and friendships within their community through their business.

James found joy in the simple pleasures – watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, working with wood, mowing the lawn, and spending time outside, appreciating each day. Above all, James cherished his family.

He is survived by his wife Teresa Sewall (Pribonic), his daughter Beverly Sewall, and his grandchildren, Janice (Matt) Garrett, April (Jack) Bright, and Antonio Gonzales; Sister-in-law Mary (Gordon “Snake”) Hayes; Brother-in-law John (Debbie) Pribonic. He was preceded in death by his Parents James and Catherine Sewall; sister, Judith Elliott, who held a special place in his heart.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Western Reserve and Brookdale Senior Living for the compassionate care and support they provided to James.

Calling hours will be held on November 16th from 2-4 p.m., followed by a service at Flowers Snyder Funeral Home. In remembrance of James, his family invites those who loved him to gather and celebrate the life of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed.
