Joyce Pauline Barnhouse, 98, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Joyce was born in Strasburg, OH on May 27, 1926, to the late Herman Francis Stafford & Erma Almeta Boyd Stafford. She lived in Millersburg, OH, Canton, OH, winters in Naples, FL, and her last 3 1/2 years resided at Brookdale Assisted Living, Mount Vernon, OH. On December 21, 1951, Joyce married Dallas Barnhouse at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Canton, OH, and was officiated by the Rev. Dennis Foreman. Dallas preceded her in death on April 26, 2020.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, James (Eloise) Stafford, Mt. Vernon, OH, brother Ken Stafford, Millersburg, OH, brother Don & (Hilda) Stafford, Lake Watery, SC, sister Jean (Dick) Maxwell. Surviving our her sister-in-law Kreath Stafford Millersburg, OH, nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
Joyce worked at and retired as a key punch operator at the Data Processing Center for Timken, Roller Bearing Company, Canton, OH.

She loved her dogs, polka music, flower gardening, her computer, where she loved sharing jokes and funny stories, crocheting afghans, that she would include the label: “Handmade with love, Joyce Barnhouse.” She and her husband went on cruises and traveled to places all around the world including to Chile, Brazil, Calgary, Canada, Amsterdam, Falkland Islands, United Kingdom, Argentina, Budapest, Venezuela, Panama, Sydney, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Portugal & New Zealand.

Joyce and her husband Dallas were members of the Brookdale, Canton, Ohio Country Club and Bears Paw Country Club, Naples, Florida.

She is laid to rest at the East Springfield Cemetery, 203 Church St., East Springfield, Ohio alongside her husband.
