Billy W. King, nearly 88 years old, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Country Club Retirement Campus.

He was born on November 15, 1936, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Willard and Agnes (Hall) King. Billy was employed at Federal Chemical Fertilizer, Galena Brick Yard, raised rabbits, was the grounds keeper at Snyder Funeral Homes in Mount Vernon, and finally at UPI. Billy enjoyed farming, gardening, training horses and mules, and raising rabbits. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. But most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family and close friends.

He is survived by his sons, Ty (Chrissy) King, Tod (Julie) King, Troy (Melissa) King, Travis King; five grandchildren, Amanda (Shane) King Norman, Taryn King, Taelyn King, Lila King, Hudson King; and his brother Gary (Sherry) King.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of over 63 years, Carol Grace King.

Friends may call on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home (201 Newark Rd. Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050) from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, at the Hope Lutheran Church (15370 Meredith State Rd, Sunbury, Ohio 43074) beginning at 2:30pm with Rev. Benjamin Meyer officiating.
