WOOSTER — The Fredericktown cross country teams joined hundreds of runners at the Wooster CC Invitational Saturday at Wooster High School. Both squads ran in the Division II/III race.
On the boys side, three Freddies finished in the top 50. Noah Smith finished 27th, leading the team with a 16:58.76.
Anson Weneger (#34) followed with a 17:06.26, and Josh Alexander (#46) ran a 17:19.55. Aiden McManis finished just outside the top 50 (#52) with a 17:24.47.
Teammates Brandon Hogg (17:28.46), Lincoln Snyder (17:39.20), Darren Hartley (18:05.39), Caleb Smith (19:08.96) Nick LaFevre (19:13.07), Nolan Bender (19:32.09), Gideon Rashley (19:44.18), Patrick McGuckin (19:47.63), and Elisha McGuckin (20:22.94) rounded out the team.
After finishing their respective races, team members stood along the finish line chute, congratulating other runners as they finished. This tradition dates back over a decade and honors the late Nick Gaumer, a former Freddie cross-country runner.

Girls Division II/III race
Peyton Blakesley led the way for the Fredericktown girls, turning in a 21:21.77 for 51st place among 302 runners. Ellie Kershner followed with a 21:30.38
Taylor Brown ran a 21:55.34, and Elizabeth Swartzentruber posted a 22:09.98. Caroline Gladman’s 22:39.44 was closely followed by Madi Shade’s 22:39.92.
Micah Phillips (22:49.55), Abby Krabill (23:21.65), Taylor Thorne (23:37.82), Elli Rashley (24:00.05), Kit Bellman (24:25.46), and Caitlin Roddy (24:29.63) rounded out the team scoring.
