MOUNT VERNON — Women United of Knox County is proud to announce their successful participation in a back-to-school drive, aimed at ensuring that students across the county return to school equipped and ready for the new academic year.
In collaboration with The Salvation Army, Women United members have generously volunteered their time to stuff backpacks with essential school supplies for students in need.
This initiative highlights Women United’s ongoing commitment to education and community support.
“We’re making sure every child in Knox County returns to school feeling prepared and ready,” said Halle Krajenski, Program Director for United Way of Knox County.
“There should be no barriers for students returning to school that would hinder their success or ability to thrive.”
In addition to filling backpacks with supplies at the Salvation Army, Women United also made a significant contribution by purchasing 415 headphones and 40 TI-89 calculators, funded through the proceeds of their annual Power of the Purse event.
“These essential items will help students with their learning experiences, particularly in a time when technology plays a crucial role in education,” said Katie Ellis, Executive Director for United Way of Knox County.
“We extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who donated to this invaluable cause at Power of the Purse.”
The back-to-school drive is part of Women United’s broader mission to support educational opportunities and enhance the well-being of children and families within Knox County.
