Marilyn Butcher, 89, of Mount Vernon passed away on Monday evening, July 8, 2024 at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on December 17, 1934 in Mount Vernon to the late Kenneth and Ramona (Bell) Fawcett.
Marilyn graduated in 1952 from the former Gambier High School and then from the former Mount Vernon Business College. She was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and as a volunteer with the ladies’ auxiliary at the former Mercy Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Kim (Nelson) Smith and Jeff (Cheri) Butcher; grandchildren, Mallory (Omari Williams) Butcher, Rhett (Tanya) Butcher, Justin (Sarah) Sperry, and Jeff (Lisa) Sperry; great grandchildren, Sydney, Samantha, Jillian, Jocie, Charlotte and Zoe; step grandchildren, Tamra (Dan) Fuscaldo and Doug (Kim) Smith; and step great grandchildren, Lia, Dominic, Jayden, Natalie and Greyson.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Owen Butcher Jr.; great grandson, Andrew Owen Butcher; and a sister, Donna Fawcett.
The family will observe a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Mr. Roger Marra officiating.
