It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and son, Richard Frank Warren III, who died Sunday, June 9, 2024, at age 75, at his home in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

He was born along with his twin sister, Victoria, on May 10, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Richard Frank Warren, Jr., an area Orthodontist, and Caroline Biehn Warren, a devoted mother and homemaker.

After a few years living out-of-state, he moved to Granville, Ohio with his family in 1961. Richard attended school locally before transferring to Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia, from which he graduated in 1968. He served in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War from 1969-1970 before returning stateside where he later became a Captain in the United States Army Reserve. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from Franklin University in 1979. He was a Mensa member and a speaker with Toastmasters.

In his professional life, Richard worked as a purchasing agent for Bionetics from which he retired after 26 years of loyal service. He was also skilled at fabricating dental crowns and other dental appliances and ran a dental lab for a number of years.

He was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Granville where he cultivated many great friendships and enjoyed the fellowship of those in his congregation.

Richard raised his two wonderful daughters as a single father. He remarried four years ago, finding love and happiness in his final years. As an avid reader and Anglophile, he took great interest in many topics, most particularly history, current events and politics. He was good with his hands, excelling at building and woodworking. He studied wooden boat building at the Wooden Boat School in Brookin, Maine with hopes to one day build his own wooden race boat.

As a lifelong animal lover, Richard had many rescue pets over the years, most particularly cats and dogs. As someone who was gentle and kind, animals knew they could trust him completely.

He was an active man, who walked several miles a day, and who completed more than one walking tour through England and Scotland. He described the scenery on his trips abroad as breathtakingly beautiful and the experiences as some of the best of his life. He loved travel in general and had plans to visit Spain, Portugal and Australia before they were curtailed by pancreatic cancer.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Crouch (LeFevre); his daughters, Olivia Warren and Kelly Riley; his grandchildren, Addison and Greyson Riley; his sisters, Leslie Warren, Tracy Warren, and Victoria Warren; and his mother, Caroline Biehn Warren, who will turn 100 on July 20. She is heartbroken that she and her son will not be able to celebrate her centennial year together.

A private graveside service will be held at Welsh Hills Cemetery in Granville with Rev. Lee Ann Reat officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Don & Sue’s Pizza (645 W. Church St. Newark, OH 43055) on July 12th from 5:30 to 7:30pm to share memories of Richard.
