James A. Legros, age 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at The Ohio Eastern Star Home.

He was born on July 30, 1933, in Montpelier, Indiana and was the son to the late Alfred and Mable (Knox) Legros.

Jim graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1951, where he was active in football, basketball, and baseball. He was voted Best Athlete in 1951. Jim also enjoyed golf, tennis, and horseshoes during his lifetime.

Jim was a United States Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Rock) Foglesong, Jo (Randy) Pursel, Lisa Deem, Michelle (Travis) Schindley; a son, Mitchell (Melissa) Legros; grandchildren, Eddie Wright, Rocky (Amy) Foglesong, Stori Wright, Kain (Ivonna) Foglesong, Dylan (Juliet Seng) Deem, James Deem, Chase (Dresden) Wright, Jade Eberhardt, Jacob (Kayli) Legros, Seth (Ashley) Shannon, and Jayda Legros; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his life partner, Janice Frye, and her daughter’s, Karla Hylton and Kelly (David) Purdy.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Reid Legros; brother, Jerry Legros, sister, Jean Jones, great-granddaughter, Alexandra Lee Wright, and a son-in-law, Harry Deem.

At Jim’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
