Karen Sue (Rowe) Herndon, age 70, of Bonita Springs, Florida, and formerly of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 10, 1954, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the daughter of Francis and Betty (Lewis) Rowe. Karen was a 1972 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and later graduated from Bliss Business College in Columbus, Ohio.
Karen spent most of her life in Ohio but found her true home in the warmth of Bonita Springs, Florida, where she lived for the past 8 years. Her vibrant personality and unwavering opinions made her a force to be reckoned with. She always spoke her mind and lived life on her own terms. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. In her final days, Karen was at peace with her journey.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan (Alison) Cochran of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Justin Cochran, Kylie Cochran, and Lindsey Cochran; her sister, Sharon (Jerry) Lamb of Mount Vernon; her brother, Gary (Margaret) Rowe of Mount Vernon; nieces and nephews, Marie (Brett) Coffing, Clay Lamb, Travis (Jessie) Rowe, and Ashlee (Nate) Armstrong; and great niece and nephews, Ryley Magers, Hudson and Brody Coffing, and Jaret and Olivia Armstrong. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Herndon, and a sister, Susan Rowe.
A graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Karen Sue (Rowe) Herndon.
