MOUNT VERNON – The Knox County Chamber of Commerce and Corporate Sponsor the Energy Cooperative announce the nominees for the Chamber Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony. The event will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Kenyon Athletic Center.
Each year the Ambassadors of the Chamber of Commerce nominate three individuals/businesses in nine categories. The 2017 nominees are:
Environmental Sustainability Award sponsored by: Kenyon College
The Environmental Sustainability Award honors the Knox County business or organization that has done most during the past year to introduce sustainable practices into its operations or to promote awareness of sustainable practices and encourage their use. Examples include, but are not limited to, business or organizational commitments to the use of locally grown and raised foods; educational programs at any level; environmentally positive land development; “green” building (especially construction that participates in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system); programs that address clean-air and clean-water issues; ride-sharing and other transportation-related initiatives; and use of less-polluting or non-polluting fuels.
