Charles N. “Mick” Alexander, 79, of Centerburg passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus following a courageous battle with declining health. He was born on May 22, 1944 in Mount Vernon to the late Charles B. and Lolita Rose (Reichenbach) Alexander.
Mick honorably served his country in the Navy during Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion and was past commander. Mick had the privilege of being on the 100th Honor Flight from Columbus. He was a member of the Pine Street Church of God in Mount Vernon. He had worked for Chattanooga Glass until the Mount Vernon Plant closed. He then went to work for Jeld Wen Windows in Mount Vernon and retired from there. In his younger years, Mick as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT for Centerburg and while he was an EMT, he had the honor of delivering two babies. While, his son, David was a student at Northridge, he was active in the athletic boosters, he was on the football chain gang, and Mick and Michelle were honored as Parents of the Year at Northridge. He was also involved with David’s boy scout troop and t-ball. Mick and Michelle were Foster Parents many years. Mick also worked for the Snyder Funeral Homes for over 35 years in his spare time. He will be remembered as being a gentleman that was always willing to lend a helping hand and when you would call him, he would stop what he was doing so he could be there for you.
In addition to his parents, Mick was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Ann Alexander.
Mick is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Michelle (Blankenship) Alexander; son, David (Lisa) Alexander of Mount Vernon; his grandson, Cole C. Alexander; brothers, Lawrence Alexander of Aurora, CO and Thomas (Jacquelyn) Alexander of Chandlersville; sister, Kathryn (Charles) Bube of Dallas, NC; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2023 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Flowers Chapel, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon where a funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 with Pastor Dan Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
