BERKSHIRE TOWNSHIP — A Mount Vernon man was killed Monday after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 36, according to the Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
William C. Stewart, 61, of Mount Vernon died as a result of injuries sustained in this crash, the Patrol stated.
According to the Patrol, the incident took place at approximately 10:37 a.m. on U.S. 36 at the intersection of Township Road 33 in Berkshire Township, Delaware County.
The Patrol reported that Stewart was operating a gray 2002 Ford F-150 southbound on Township Road 33. Harjit Singh, 41, of Greenwood Indiana, was operating a white 2019 Freightliner commercial semi westbound on U.S. 36.
The Patrol stated that Stewart failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the trailer of the commercial truck. Stewart was transported by Delaware EMS to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
Singh did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash.
Authorities stated both men were both wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash still remains under investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Delaware County EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation and BST&G Fire and EMS.
