Though not marked by a stone, Miranda Bricker’s grave is marked in this photo with a pink flower. Her sister Penelope (Nellie) Bricker was later buried next to her. Jane Bricker is buried elsewhere in the cemetery.Â

David Copeland, George Copeland’s father, was a veteran of the Civil War, fighting in the 45th U.S. Colored Troops. His grave is still decorated in Mound View Cemetery today.

Although David Copeland is the only one with a stone, George Copeland’s mother Elizabeth and two sisters are buried here without markers. The graves are almost within sight of the Copeland home at the corner of Ann and McKenzie Streets.

This draft card filled out in 1917 proves that George Copeland moved to California, where he later held a job as a singer in a theater before disappearing from subsequent records.Â

This was the drawing of George Copeland that appeared in local media when he was wrongly accused of the murder of Miranda Bricker in 1905. At the time, he was 18, a former high school football player.
