Crash Reports

April 11

  • An unknown vehicle was traveling north on N. Main St. when it struck a parked vehicle owned by Jack Hunnicut. His vehicle was struck with enough force to make it strike a vehicle owned by Susan Lind. The unknown driver left the scene and has not been identified.

Incident Reports

April 11

  • An officer responded to a gas station on N. Sandusky St. for a shoplifting complaint. An individual took a 12-pack of ice cream without offering to pay for it. A review of the security footage identified the suspect who has been charged with theft.
  • At 4:40 PM officers were dispatched to E. Pleasant St. on a report of a suspicious individual. When three officers arrived they made contact with an individual who told them he was waiting for a friend. The individual gave officers permission to search his backpack and a used hypodermic needle was found. The needle was collected and placed into the evidence locker at the MVPD. The suspect was issued a summons in lieu of arrest for possession of drug abuse instruments.
  • At approximately 4:58 PM an officer responded to Columbus Rd. in reference to an individual being threatened.
  • A disturbance was reported at a residence on Locust St. It was reported an individual had shown up at the residence and had threatened to kill the victim. He also damaged the gate at the residence. The suspect was charged with aggravated menacing and criminal mischief.
  • At approximately 8:46 PM an officer responded to Third Ave. in reference to a theft. A report was taken and the investigation is ongoing.

April 12

  • Officers responded to the 300 block of E. Ohio Ave. for a report of a burglary in progress in a condemned home. Upon arrival, the officers observed a piece of plywood had been removed from the door and a glass panel near the front door was broken. Officers heard someone moving around inside the house and gave commands for the individual to come outside. Officers entered the house to locate the individual. Donald R. Kennedy, Jr. was discovered in the upstairs bedroom. Kennedy stated he was the only one in the house. He advised he had a backpack located downstairs. That and another backpack contained miscellaneous power and hand tools. Kennedy was secured in handcuffs and transported to the Knox County Jail. He was charged with criminal trespass,obstructing official business and possession of criminal tools.
  • An officer responded to the area of E. Hamtramck St. and Braddock St. in reference to a vehicle damaged by a tree branch. A report was taken for insurance purposes.
  • A female who was visiting her grandchildren on W. Vine St. reported a burglary. She said she arrived at her child’s house and found an unsecured door. Upon entering she stated no one was inside nor was anything missing that she was aware of. There are no suspects at this time.

April 13

  • At 12:39 a.m. officers responded to a Mansfield Ave.residence on a report of domestic violence. Nicholas Williams was arrested and charged with using weapons while intoxicated. Further charges will be reviewed by the Mount Vernon City Law Director.
  • An officer responded to W. Ohio Ave. in reference to a domestic dispute. A bartender called 9-1-1 and reported a male identified as Dustin House threatened to kill his girlfriend and himself. He then left the area in a green van. Contact was made with House and he was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and domestic violence.
  • An officer responded to Cooper St. on a theft complaint The suspect is unknown at this time.
  • An officer was dispatched to Madison St. along with the Mount Vernon Fire Department. Upon arrival a black tool box was discovered on fire. After the fire was put out an animal carcass was observed inside the box. ODNR was contacted and has taken over the investigation.
  • An officer was dispatched to a Concoction Ave. business in reference to a shoplifting incident. The complainant said a male had placed several items in empty bags and left without offering to pay for them. A summons was issued to the suspect.
  • Units were dispatched to Newark Rd. on a report of a burglary. When the officer arrived he located a male with 2 active warrants. The malewas taken into custody.

April 17

  • Two officers were dispatched to Howard St. on a report of a disturbance. Employees stated a female had broken a light on the wall and was yelling at other individuals at the hotel. The female was located and identified as Nicole Bower. She was arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

  • Christopher Creech, 50, Johnstown Rd. was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and theft without consent.

April 10

April 11

  • Brittany Craig, 29, Centerburg, was cited for DUS.
  • Daniel Walton, 26, N. Norton St. was arrested for possession of durg abuse instruments.
  • Joshua Julian, 37, Croton, was arrested for aggravated menacing and criminal mischief.
  • Donald Kennedy, 25, Howard, was arrested for possession of criminal tools, obstructing official business and criminal trespass.

April 12

  • Amie Richter, 30, S. Monroe St. was cited for driving under suspicious/revocation.
  • Selena Lacey, 21, Martinsburg Rd. was cited for seatbelt violation.
  • Brandon Rowe, 33, W; Curtis St. was cited for driving under FRA suspension.
  • Shawn Campos, 27, Fredericktown, was cited for driving under suspension/revocation.
  • Karen Leasure, 58, N. Sandusky St. was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
  • Taasha Bean,35, Utica, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs.
  • Kerry Freed, 32, Utica, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

April 13

  • Nicholas Williams, 36, Mansfield Ave. was arrested for using weapons while intoxicated.
  • Dustin House, 23, Warsaw, was arrested for aggravated menacing and domestic violence.
  • Trevin White, 19, W. Gambier St. was cited for failure to display valid plates.
  • Kristen Hill, 51, Worthington, was cited for DUS.
  • Ryan Schonauer, 43, Howard, was arrested for theft.
  • Lindsey Powelson, 26, Centerburg, was cited for driving unjder an FRA suspension.
  • Melvin Fiske, 32, Frost Alley, was arrested on two outstanding warrants.
  • Emily Peck, 65, Sychar Rd.was cited for driving on right side of the roadway.

April 14

  • William White, 20, Butler, was cited for failure to display valid plates.
  • James Beal,39, Bucyrus, was cited for DUS.
  • Corey Ansel, 28, N. Division St. was arrested for three warrants.

April 16
