MOUNT VERNON – Knox County Landmarks Foundation will highlight outstanding community members, businesses and organizations working to protect and promote local historic, cultural, and architectural heritage.
The Preservation Celebration will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the B & O Railroad Depot, 507 West High Street.
Humorist, author, and storyteller, Kim Weitkamp, will emcee the event. Awards will celebrate the milestones, heritage, and buildings of Knox County, including an award for lifetime achievement in historic preservation, three landmark businesses (staple businesses over 50 years running), and a tribute to new uses for old spaces. A dessert buffet will be provided by Half Baked Café and Catering.
Tickets by donation to support their work in the preservation of a local Lustron House, a prefabricated enameled steel house developed in the post-World War II era.
