Mary H. Spearman, age 98, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at The Living Center of Mount Vernon surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 17, 1925, in Morrow County, Ohio, the daughter of Hoy and Zana (Mitchell) Harris. Mary was a faithful and active member of the Brandon Baptist Church, where she worked as a Vacation Bible School volunteer for many years and an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, attending her first game in 1944.

For several years after graduating, Mary worked for Bairs Dry Cleaning in Mount Vernon. However, her primary love was working on the farm with her husband Dale. They ran a dairy farm as well as raising hogs, chickens and beef cattle, while growing corn, soybeans, wheat, oats and baling lots of hay. Mary spent many hours on a tractor working in the field, often waving across the field to Dale also on a tractor. Dale and Mary thoroughly enjoyed being farmers. She enjoyed pottery, baking pies for family and friends, especially her peanut butter pie, and helping her husband with 4-H activities. She also was frequent contributor to the American Red Cross, passing the 20 gallon mark.

She is survived by her son, Daniel (Rosemary) Spearman of Wapakoneta, Ohio, two grandchildren, Joel (Heather) Spearman of Austin, Texas, and Andrew (Caroline) Spearman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, four great grandchildren, Campbell Spearman, Elsa Spearman, Clara Spearman, and Everett Spearman.

Mary was very proud of her grandsons, Joel, sports architect and Andrew, pediatric cardiologist.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dale W. Spearman (2012) and four brothers, Milton Harris, Maurice Harris, Hoy Harris Jr., and Carroll Harris.
