GAHANNA – A line of strong late season thunderstorms
with possible tornadoes and winds gusting to 70 miles per hour moved
across Ohio late Sunday breaking poles and knocking down power lines in
several areas of AEP Ohio’s service territory. The severe weather has
effected service for both transmission and distribution customers.
At the height of the storm at 9 p.m. Sunday, approximately 33,500 AEP Ohio
customers were without power. As of 10 a.m. today, approximately 7,800
customers remain without power. The hardest hit areas include Paulding and
Lima in western Ohio and Canton in northeast Ohio. The majority of
customers still without power are in the company’s Paulding service area
