FREDERICKTOWN — Macy Thorne and Andrea Smith from the Fredericktown FFA were among over 3,800 that were recognized for receiving their American FFA Degrees at the recent 96th National FFA Convention.

Both Macy and Andrea worked very hard and invested a lot of time to get this honor. She had to have earned their State FFA Degree.

They each completed at least three years of an agricultural education program and graduated from high school at least 12 months prior to the convention.

The member had to have at least 50 hours of community service, and productively earn 10,000 and reinvest 7,500 into their Supervised Agricultural Experience program.

They must have maintained a scholastic record of at least a “C” or better and completed a written application that goes through an intense evaluation process on the local, district, state, and national levels.

Each year only about 3,800 people get their American Degree in the entire United States so we are very proud to have two of those from right here in Fredericktown.

Macy’s supervised agricultural experience program consisted of raising market and breeding goats as well as job placements.

She is a student at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University and is currently studying Biology. She is the daughter of J.R. and Jamie Thorne of Fredericktown.

Andrea’s supervised agricultural experience program consisted of raising market and breeding rabbits and her job placements.

Andrea is a student at the OSU-Agricultural Technical Institute where she is currently studying Agricultural Education.

Andrea is the daughter of Shane and Bernadette Smith of Fredericktown.

Fredericktown FFA Advisor is Debra Burden.
