MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Career Center’s (KCCC) Building Trades program
hosted its annual Dog Days of Summer event at KCCC on Oct. 6.

Juniors and seniors in Building Trades had the opportunity to meet and talk with contractors throughout the three-hour event.

There were 30 business representatives from various construction companies who attended the event.

“We are grateful for the contractors who took time to be with Mr. (Colby) Clippinger and his students,” said Superintendent Kathy Greenich.

Students had the opportunity to have lunch with the contractors, ask them questions, and get acquainted with them.

Laborers Local 1216 sponsored the Dog Days of Summer event and provided all of the food.

“We are very grateful and appreciative to Laborers Local 1216 for sponsoring the event
and supporting our students,” Clippinger said. “It was great to have the building open to contractors again.

“We appreciate so many of the contractors coming to this event and recognizing the value of the students coming out of KCCC.

“They had the opportunity to talk with each student, find out their interests, and get the first chance of recruiting them at their business.

“Dog Days is a great opportunity for our students to speak to potential employers and learn the importance of shaking hands, eye contact, and how to handle an informal interview.”
