Gary Prushing, age 76, of Hilliard, passed away at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus on March 20, 2023, from complications of several strokes surrounded by his family.
Gary was a man of deep faith and managed his illnesses with peace, strength, and Grace.
He was born on September 15, 1946 in Mount Vernon and was the son of Dr. LeRoy and Mary Alice Prushing. Gary graduated from Mount Vernon High School and from Franklin University. He had worked at Flexible and Sanoh of America.
Gary was a United States Army Veteran.
Gary and his wife Leona recently moved to Hilliard after living on his farm where he enjoyed being outdoors with his dog Maggie by his side. He also enjoyed boarding horses, cutting wood, walking through his woods, watching birds, deer, turkeys. He was a member of the Alpine Hiking Club and Apple Valley where he enjoyed boating and water skiing. Gary also liked to snow ski at various ski resorts. He also was a collector of antique cars and showed them at car shows.
He is survived by his wife Leona; two daughters, Sandra (Jason) Boone and Kimberly (Paul) Bricker; grandchildren, Quincey, Marley, Willow, Ceejay, and Emmett; two stepchildren, Greg Kendig and Debi (Aaron) Hampton; step-grandchildren, Nicole, Nathan, and Noelle; and a sister, Jenny Sutcliffe.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Rd. in Mount Vernon.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 – 11 AM at the funeral home. Burial with military graveside honors will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
