MOUNT VERNON — Knox Pages and the OH.Report are going to boldly go where neither has gone before.
The two local media outlets will join forces this fall to deliver live high school sports coverage to fans who cannot be at the game.
OH.Report will livestream high school sports events to the Source Media Properties Facebook pages across four Ohio counties during this innovative collaboration.
“The OH.Report is excited to team up with The Source Media team, which includes Richland Source, Ashland Source, Crawford Source and Knox Pages,” said Brian Skowronski, President of BS Media / OH.Report. “COVID restrictions have reduced the number of fans allowed into athletic venues. To adapt, we’ve partnered with local schools to produce live broadcasts of football, soccer and volleyball matches. This collaboration will bring more games, to more fans, across more markets.”
Every broadcast will include professional commentators, graphics, stats, scoreboard updates, and interviews with coaches and players.
“This was an easy decision for us,” said Jay Allred, President of Source Media Properties. “It’s true to the core principles we established when we began to cover the coronavirus. We wanted to use our platform and work with others to help people navigate a very strange new reality. This partnership does that.”
The coverage began last week with a pair of girls soccer matches and continued on Friday night with football games. This week’s schedule includes a Knox County presence.
On Friday night, look for a livestream football broadcast of the Northmor at East Knox contest at 7 p.m. at the Knox Pages Facebook page. In general, a game will be broadcast in the county of the home team. Hence, the Mount Vernon at Ashland football game at 7 p.m. will be on the Ashland Source Facebook page. The River Valley at Clear Fork football game on Friday at 7 p.m. will be on the Richland Source Facebook page.
“The partnership with the Source allows more people to watch their favorite teams on their smart devices with no paywalls. There’s more opportunities to like, share and comment about their hometown athletes,” Skowronski said. “Talking about the game is sometimes as fun as the action itself, so we are delighted to make fans part of the game right in the palm of their hands from the safety of their homes.”
Besides the OH.Report’s Facebook page, games will stream to the Source’s pages, based on the home team’s county. So get your bookmarks ready.
Athletic events with a Richland County school as the home team will stream on Richland Source’s Facebook page. If an Ashland County school is the home team the contest will play on Ashland Source’s Facebook page. The same holds true for schools in Knox County on Knox Pages Facebook page, and in Crawford County on Crawford Source Facebook page.
“We are dedicated to making the 2020 fall sports season an amazing experience for both viewers and athletes.” Skowronski said.
