MOUNT VERNON – If you were visiting the post office on West High street Wednesday afternoon you would have noticed street department crews removing trees at all four corners of the intersection with South Mulberry Street. City Street Department manager Tom Hinkle tells KnoxPages.com that this is part of the Downtown Revitalization program.
Hinkle said, “Crews will be ripping most of the sidewalks (on West High) from Gay to Sandusky, removing trees and posts. The Shade Tree Commission will then come back through and plant new trees.”
Until then, don’t plan on much shade along West High Street this summer.
