FREDERICKTOWN –  The theft from a Kokosing Construction job site in Richland County resulted in the recovery of the stolen property in Fredericktown and the arrest of John A. Deucore, 43, Mansfield.

Fredericktown Police Chief Roger Brown said Kokosing Construction notified the FPD of the theft of approximately $6000 of paving equipment from the Richland County job site. Kokosing was able to provide FPD officers with Deucore’s name and telephone number as they received a tip he was attempting to sell the equipment.

In collaboration with Kokosing and the FPD, arrangements were made with Deucore for him to transport the equipment to Fredericktown where he would be paid the amount he requested for the items, Brown said.

On Friday evening, a Fredericktown Police Officer dressed in plain clothes met Deucore at a Fredericktown business to purchase the equipment. Brown said, once it was confirmed the items were for sale and they matched the description of the items stolen from Kokosing in Richland County, officers arrested Deucore on a Richland County warrant for Failure to Appear and recovered the reported stolen property. Chief Brown said Deucore was released to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office on the outstanding warrant.

A warrant for Receiving Stolen Property was issued by the Fredericktown Police Department for Deucore and he was returned to Knox County on Tuesday and is currently being held in jail on a $5000.00 bond.

Chief Brown said, the investigation was conducted by Lieutenant Kyle Johnson and Patrolman Ronny Flynn with assistance from Patrolman Josh Jones, Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Terry Wolfe and Kokosing Construction staff.
