JACKSONTOWN — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is seeking public comments regarding the proposed Downtown Connector Trail (PID 92412) in Knox County. In cooperation with ODOT, the City of Mount Vernon is proposing to extend the trail at Memorial Park to SR 13 in the city of Mount Vernon, Ohio.

The project will result in the rehabilitation of the existing railroad bridges over the Kokosing River as well as Dry Run in order to serve as pedestrian/bike bridges. The trail that will be constructed with this project will cross both of these structures. The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2015.

ODOT is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts could include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project.
