Diana McQuigg, precinct manager, reported 246 individuals had cast their vote at the Mount Vernon Energy Field House polling location as of 11 a.m.
“I would say it didn’t seem unusual until I found out about how many have pre-voted,” McQuigg said. “Therefore, it seems this is a normal amount that’s coming in, but because of the pre-voting you’re kind of expecting it to be less busy, but it’s very busy.”
Mount Vernon residents will cast their votes on a variety of issues today, but perhaps the most contested is Mount Vernon City Schools’ proposed 1-percent earned income tax levy.
