MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon rang in the month with a star-spangled celebration at July First Friday.

Residents came by to support local vendors and celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in spite of the sweltering weather.

Festivities included face painting, live music and appearances by the “living statues” of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Hamilton.
