Gregory L. “Greg” Talbott, age 78, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday morning, May 2, 2026, at his home.

He was born on March 11, 1948, in Mount Vernon to the late Dwight and Loretta (Wingo) Talbott. Greg was a 1966 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He worked at PPG, owned and operated numerous construction companies, owned and operated Chadbo’s Food Truck, and was a retired Captain of the Mount Vernon Fire Department. Greg also was a member of the VFW Post #4027 and Colonial City of Moose Lodge #2555.

Greg was very competitive in all of his activities, skiing, fishing, hunting, golfing and he had a passion for music where he was a member of the Owl Creek Band. He enjoyed jamming with his fellow musicians in his garage. He also enjoyed the times he spent on his boat at Lake Erie with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, of nearly 56 years, Kaila (Donaldson) Talbott; two sisters-in-law Sue Donaldson, Cheryl Schaffer; numerous nieces and nephews; and his canine companion Chester.

In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his son Chad Talbott; his brothers Roger and Michael Talbott; and his sister Nancy Talbott.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Snyder Funeral Home – Dowds Chapel from 12-1pm. A service will follow, beginning at 1pm, with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will take place in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
