COLUMBUS — America 250-Ohio, the official state commission responsible for spearheading Ohio’s celebrations and commemorations relating to America’s semiquincentennial in 2026, announces its latest addition to the Trails & Tales program.
The Ohio Transportation Trail is an experiential driving trail of more than 80 sites across Ohio that showcase the individuals and locations that powered the movement of the nation’s travelers, trade, and transformative ideas.
It is the fifth of six planned experiential trails for America 250-Ohio’s signature Trails & Tales program created in partnership with the Ohio Travel Association. The trail will be formally launched at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum in Dennison during the Transportation Celebration on April 25 and 26.
Notable sites on the Ohio Transportation Trail include:
- National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton.
- Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum in Cleveland.
- Soap Box Derby Museum in Lancaster.
- Ohio Railway Museum in Worthington.
- The Canal Experience at Providence Metropark in Toledo.
“The Ohio Transportation Trail is about more than getting from point A to point B. It’s about discovering how movement shaped who we are as a state and as a people,” said Lance Woodworth, president and CEO of Destination Toledo and a team leader for America 250-Ohio’s Trails and Tales program.
“From our waterways to our roadways, Ohio has always been a crossroads of innovation, industry, and connection.”
America 250-Ohio’s Trails & Tales program aims to establish a collection of thematic experiential trails by the end of 2026.
Existing trails include the Ohio Air & Space Trail, the Ohio Creativity Trail, the Lake Erie to Ohio River Trail, and the Ohio Innovation Trail. The sixth and final trail will be announced in the second half of 2026.
