Daniel Edward Walton, age 83, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He was born in Mount Vernon, on June 26, 1942, to the late Daniel E. and Loraine (Dugan) Walton.

Dan graduated from Mount Vernon High School and attended Lindsey Wilson College before joining the United States Coast Guard. He worked for the Knox County Sherrif’s Department for over 50 years. He loved riding his Harley Davidson’s and his horses.

Dan is survived by his children, Marc (Tina) Walton of Florida, Debi (Jon) Willard of Findlay; grandchildren, Dillon, Stephanie, Farrah, and Nick Walton, Adrienne, and Gavin Erford; step-grandchildren, Lindsey (Christian) Willard, Lauren and Livi Willard; brothers, David (Georgia) Kerin of California, Chuck Kerin of South Carolina; and special friend, Cheri Bagent.

Along with his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his wife; Marie (Ward) Walton; step-father, Charles Kerin; and brother, John Kerin.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 11:00 am until the funeral service starting at 1:00 pm at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High Steet Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050 with burial to follow at Mound View Cemetery.
