Dolores A. Beever, 81 of Mount Vernon passed away on April 5, 2026, at Knox Community Hospital. She was born on December 29, 1944 to her birth father Ira Brown and father Edward and Winifred (Spangler) Hysong in Punxsutawney, PA.

Dolores built a successful 50-year antique career amassing a clientele that reached across the country and the world. A self-taught scholar of history, she possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of her craft—there was truly nothing she couldn’t identify in vivid detail. Long before it was a television trend, Dolores was the “original picker,” and her life’s work of uncovering treasures would have made for an entertaining and educational series. Beyond this, the woman could deal.

Outside of her career, she was politically active just as her mother was. She enjoyed spending time by the water with family, often sharing a donut and coffee with her husband Charles as they drove through Ariel Foundation Park. They also enjoyed many years of attending Phil Dirt and the Dozers concerts together. She loved her family and dogs. Above all, she was a devoted matriarch. If you needed it, she was there.

Dolores is survived by her children Ronald DuMont of Newark, OH, Charlene (Joseph) Clipse of Okatie, SC, Nanette (Chad) Franks of Mount Vernon, OH and Ben (Abby ) Beever of Mount Vernon, OH; grandchildren Renee (Patrick) Atkins, Alex Updike, Jillian Beever, Morgan Beever; great-grandson Calvin; siblings Edward (Judy) Hysong of Mount Vernon, OH, Darlene (Frank) Allen of Mount Vernon, OH, Terry (Brenda) Hysong, Omejean (Guy) Buck of Punxsutawney, PA.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Charles Beever, a brother Kenny Brown and her parents.

Graveside services will be Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00am at Homer Cemetery in Homer, OH with Mr. Roger Marra officiating.
