MOUNT VERNON — Squeals of delight rang out at Hiawatha Park on Saturday morning as youngsters age 0 to 11 darted after multi-colored Easter eggs and prizes.
Parks & Recreation Director Jeff Durr said National Honor Society and Key Club members from Mount Vernon High School distributed more than 4,800 eggs for the Jerry & Joy Easter Egg Hunt. Youngsters, divided into age categories, had staggered starts in various parts of the park.
The Mount Vernon Fire Department and other local businesses contributed prizes. Face painting, touch-a-truck, PAK United, and a food truck were among the other activities available.
