MOUNT VERNON — Residents of The Ohio Eastern Star Home recently stepped back in
time for an evening of music during a special Jazz Night event on campus.
The community was transformed into a classic jazz lounge, complete with warm lighting, vintage-inspired décor, and an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of an old-time jazz establishment.
Residents gathered with friends and neighbors for an afternoon filled with smooth melodies, laughter, and connection.
Pianist Joe Lawhon provided the soundtrack for the afternoon. From timeless standards to relaxed improvisations, his performance provided a backdrop for residents to relax, reminisce, and tap their toes to the music.
Guests were also treated to refreshments from an open bar and appetizers, which added to the ambiance and allowed residents to socialize and savor the experience together.
“Events like Jazz Night are all about creating meaningful experiences for our residents,” said Michele Engelbach, CEO of The Ohio Eastern Star Home. “Music has a powerful way of bringing people together and sparking wonderful memories. Seeing residents smiling, singing along, and enjoying the atmosphere made the afternoon truly special.”
