MOUNT VERNON — Knox County Career Center students competed in the SkillsUSA Central Region competition held at Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County (C-TEC) on March 13.
Gavin Domka, a junior in Metal Fabrication and Welding, placed first in the Welding competition. Brandyn Thomas, a junior in Health Technologies, placed fourth in the Medical Terminology competition.
Keith Rogers, a senior in Precision Machining, placed third in the 3-axis CNC Milling competition.
Beau Keller, a senior in Precision Machining, placed first in the 2-axis CNC Turning competition. Coy Bieri, a junior in Precision Machining, placed fourth.
All five qualified for the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference on May 5-6 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
“Our students competed very well at the SkillsUSA Central Region competition on
Friday. Their preparation and hard work paid off, and we are excited that they will have the opportunity to compete at the state competition,” said Joe LaFevre, KCCC’s co-advisor for SkillsUSA.
