Charlotte A. Trace, 79, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully at her home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24, 1946, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Alonzo and Jenevive (Fowls) Freeman.

Charlotte devoted her life to her family. Her greatest joy was raising her children and later watching her grandchildren grow. She loved spending time with them and took great pride in being present for their lives. Charlotte especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities and was one of their biggest supporters. Whether cheering from the sidelines or simply being there to encourage them, she rarely missed a game or event and treasured every opportunity to watch them do what they loved.

Charlotte is survived by her husband, Thomas Trace; her children, TJ (Lindsey Gale) Trace of Marion, OH, Cortney (Dave) Cook of Mount Vernon, OH, Erika Beck of Mount Vernon, OH, and Zak (Adri) Trace of Mount Vernon, OH; grandchildren Savannah Trace, Zane Cook, Loren Edwards, Damian Cook, Zoey Cook, Layne Cook, Isabella Beck, Trace Beck, Abigail Beck, Kendell Beck, Elaina Trace, Hunter Trace, and Addi Trace; great-grandchildren Hayden Edwards and River Cook; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Delores Weisent; and an infant son, Joseph Trace.

Calling hours will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at Dowds–Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with graveside services to follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

Charlotte will be remembered most for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. Her presence at the sidelines, her encouragement, and the love she poured into her children and grandchildren will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
